Remember in 2017, the Vitara Brezza was awarded the Indian Car of the Year.

With only a year in the market and being the first Suzuki-branded car that was fully designed in India, there was a lot of anticipation for the upcoming models.

For the record…

The Vitara Brezza is a subcompact crossover SUV manufactured by Suzuki.

After unveiling at the 13th Auto Expo in 2016, it made history as the company’s first subcompact crossover and their fourth attempt in the SUV market after the Gypsy, Grand Vitara and SX4 S-Cross.

Before Toyota started marketing it as the Toyota Urban Cruiser, we did see it back in 2012 as a concept car based on the Maruti XA Alpha.

But in 2020, we received a statement that got folks asking – Is the Suzuki Vitara Brezza getting discontinued?

is Brezza discountinued?

It turns out that the Japanese manufacturer isn’t saying goodbye yet; the Vitara Brezza isn’t getting discontinued (at least not now),

For the models between 2016 and 2020, the Vitara Brezza is powered by a 1.3 L D13A four-cylinder turbodiesel engine which produces 66 kW (89 hp; 90 PS) and 200 N⋅m (150 lb⋅ft) of torque.

However, the new 2020 model saw Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza offering a new petrol engine.

Is Brezza diesel still available?

With the launch of the 1.5-litre K-Series petrol engine which produces 103bhp and 138Nm of torque, Maruti Suzuki has officially discontinued the diesel models and will only be offering a petrol engine for the Brezza.

Is new Brezza coming?

In the first half of 2021, Maruti Suzuki’s Vitara Brezza emerged as the bestselling compact SUV in the country, selling about 60,183-units. Looking at the future, Suzuki still has something in their lineup.

Brezza petrol or diesel which is better?

Generally, petrol cars are better than diesel cars for the following reasons

  • Lower price
  • Better for short trips
  • Less local air pollution
  • Petrol cars are usually quieter

According to Maruti, it would take a person nearly 260,000 km to recover the extra cost a customer would pay to buy a diesel car over a petrol one.

The petrol engine of the Brezza is mated to a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. Both are equipped with SHVS mild hybrid system.

The fuel economy is stated at 17.03 km/L (48.1 mpg‑imp; 40.1 mpg‑US) for manual transmission option and 18.76 km/L (53.0 mpg‑imp; 44.1 mpg‑US) for automatic transmission option.
